Informal WCCS dinner at Salters’ Hall – 24.01.2017

Thank you to all who were able to attend the dinner in the newly refurbished Salters’ Hall. We tried something different with a much reduced ticket price, no black tie and livery formality and an evening of cards after two course dinner. We raised £2,000 for the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society and had a lot of fun playing Swedish Pursuit under the direction of Anthony Komedera, the Senior Warden of the Playing Card Makers. Many thanks to him and all the NRAS staff for all their help. Congratulations to Mike Jones who won the top prize and to his wife who won the effort prize! Overall the feedback has been very positive but more (good or bad) is welcome.

New Year Service in St Michael’s Church, Cornhill – 13.01.17

I represented the Company at this service held at the beautiful St Michael’s Church, Cornhill. The sermon was given by the Dean of Canterbury Cathedral. The Drapers have had a link with the church for over 500 year and kindly hosted a reception after the event.

The Worshipful Company of Plaisterers – 10.01.17

Having barely digested the generous lunch supplied by the Masons it was off to the Plaisterers Hall in the evening for a magnificent livery dinner at which some 50 Companies were represented. Past Master Terry Knight was also a guest. Managed to make the the gym tonight!

The Worshipful Company of Masons – 10.01.17

I attended the Epiphany Court luncheon at the Mercer’s Hall with the Clerk. We were greeted by the beaming smile of Bill Gloyn who nearly launched into the 12 Days of Christmas again! Fantastic hospitality and a very moving speech about a soldier who became a hero in Iraq having been given a second chance after some discipline issues in the UK.
